The Foursomes Championship
championship was started in in 1954 by Jack and Fred Brand, Jr.
in honor of their father, Fred Brand, Sr. who was a long time
golf professional at Allegheny Country Club and winner of four WPGA Open
Championships. The event consists of thirty-six holes of stroke
play, foursomes format.
The event
has traditionally started the Association's championship season
and is our most popular team event. Held every year at Longue
Vue Club since 1984, the event became so popular that the
Century Division was spun off and is now its own event at
Allegheny Country Club where the event was played from the
1954-1983.
The team of Sean Knapp and Jeff Schroeder
have won the event a record of eight times. Knapp has also won
the event with Steve Fuhrer (1987-88) and Nathan Smith (2005,
2006, 2008, 2009).
