The competition is 18 holes and the field of fifty-five (55) competitors is playing for eighteen (18) spots and two (2) alternates in the Amateur Championship at Sunnehanna Country Club. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tee. Hill Crest does not have a practice range. Please plan accordingly.
Format: 18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for qualifying spots or alternates, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.
Tee Markers: All play is from the BLUE tee markers. The course will play roughly 6,200 yards, par 71 depending on conditions.
Practice: Please contact the Golf Shop at 724-337-6361 for information regarding a practice round. Practice rounds are at the discretion of the golf shop and will be at a cost of $50 on weekdays and $60 on weekends with or without a cart. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. The Golf Professional is Dave Thomas. Hill Crest does not have a driving range. Any player wishing to practice prior to the qualifying round will need to make other arrangements. A practice range called the Bonfire is located roughly three miles from the club on the same road as the club entrance on Leechburg Road behind A-K Supply. Additionally, Stony Creek Golf Center in New Kensington is roughly 10 minutes from the club.
Transportation/Caddies: Walking is required. The club does not offer caddies. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round. Players are permitted to use push trolleys for the qualifying round.
Food: The WPGA provides water on course and lunch following the round. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Lodging: Lodging can be found in the Harmarville area.
Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty minutes (4:20). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players should return to the clubhouse or seek shelter at any rain shelter until the Committee can evacuate the golf course. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.
Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability. Spectators may purchase lunches via cash or credit card.
