57th West Penn Boys Championship

This notice serves as confirmation for the 58th Western Pennsylvania Boys Championship on Wednesday, June 28 at Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.

The competition is 18 holes. Starting tee will be hole #1. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tee. The practice facility will open at 7:00 AM the day of the championship.

The winner of Potts Division (Ages 14 & 15) receives invitation to C.R. Miller Memorial Junior Match Play Invitational.

Note to Parents & Guardians: A parent, stepparent, or guardian may not serve as a caddie. Spectator carts are not permitted for use during the championship.

Lunch is provided and paid for the players and their caddies only. Parents and/or spectators who wish to eat lunch with players should inform a staff member of Chartiers Country Club and be prepared to pay for charges via cash or chit charge to home club.

Format: 18 Holes of Stroke Play. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee in each division.

Age 14 & 15 Age Division – BLUE WPGA tee markers (Approximate Yardage 6,200)
Age 11-13 Age Division – WHITE WPGA tee markers (Approximate Yardage 5,850)
Age 8-10 Age Division – GREEN tee markers (Approximate Yardage for the nine holes 2,480)

Practice: Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 412-921-5360, the Golf Professional is Joe Klinchock. Practice rounds must be pre-arranged and are at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice rounds are available on Saturday and Tuesday after 2:00 PM with a cart and accompanied by an adult for $50 or after 5:00 PM walking for $20. The practice round rate applies only to the contestant. Non-contestants who accompany the competitor are subject to the club’s prevailing rate.

Transportation/Caddies: Players and caddies are required to walk for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties. A parent, stepparent, or guardian may not serve as a caddie.

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15).

Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.

Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players should seek the nearest shelter or building until the Committee can transport the players to the clubhouse.

Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

Food: The WPGA provides lunch for players and caddies only. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player. Lunch will be available by cash or credit card for those accompanying the players and caddies.

Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Robinson Township area.
