Notice to Players
West Penn Father & Son Championship - August 4, 2014
Green Oaks Country Club, Verona, PA

This notice serves as confirmation for 91st West Penn Father & Son Championship on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Green Oaks Country Club in Verona, PA.

Please note the attached starting time and groupings. The championship will begin with a shotgun start at 1:00 PM. Lunch will begin at 11:30. Additional information will be distributed prior to the start of the competition.

Format - 18 Holes of Stroke Play, Chapman Format

Gross/Net - There will be gross and net competition for the championship. Teams placing in both categories will be awarded only one prize of the higher amount of the two. Teams with a player/players void of a verifiable GHIN handicap will only be able to compete in the gross division of the championship.

Chapman Stroke Play - In Chapman or Pinehurst stroke play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing his partner's ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole. Allowance - The partner with the lower Course Handicap receives 60 percent of his Course Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap receives 40 percent of his Course Handicap.

Tee Markers - All play for the Gross Competition is from the BLUE tee markers.

Additional tees will be available for those teams wishing to compete from the shorter tees. Teams that choose to play from a shorter set of tees will only be eligible for the net trophy and net prizes.

Playoff - In the event of a tie for gross champion, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

Practice - Practice rounds are available, and must be made in advance, by contacting Green Oaks CC at 412-793-2000. The professional is Ed Habjan. Practice range balls are complimentary the day of the competition and the range will open at 11:00 AM.

Transportation/Caddies - Golf carts are permitted and are included in your entry fee. Green Oaks has no caddies. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose to walk.

Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation all players should return immediately to the Clubhouse.


Food - The WPGA provides lunch for players. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player. The snack shack near #8 tee will be open on a cash basis.

Lodging - Lodging can be found in the Harmarville area off the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
