Notice to Players - 2017 West Penn Foursomes Championship

May 8, 2017 - Longue Vue Club, Verona

This notice serves as confirmation for WPGA Fred Brand and Semple Brothers Foursomes Championships on Monday, May 8, 2017 at The Longue Vue Club in Verona.

The field is 24 teams for the Fred Brand and 16 teams for the Semple Brothers. Substitutions on an accepted team are permitted as long as the new player meets the eligibility requirements.

Please note the starting times and groupings below. Starting tees will be holes #1 & #9. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees. Please inform us as soon as possible if you must withdraw by emailing Matt Rusinko. The entry fee includes practice range fee, locker fee, coffee, juices and lunch, trophies to the winner, and merchandise prizes.

Format: 36 Holes of Foursomes Stroke Play. Players are encouraged to review Rule 29, Threesomes & Foursomes, USGA Rules of Golf. In the case a provisional ball needs to be played for a ball that may be lost or out of bounds, the partner plays such a ball, not the player who made the original stroke. Partners must switch the order in which they play from the Teeing Ground for the second round to ensure each player has played a shot from all eighteen Teeing Grounds. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for first place, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

Tee Markers: Play for Fred Brand will be from the BLUE WPGA tee markers (Approx. 6,500 Yards), play for Semple Brothers will be from the WHITE WPGA tee markers (Approx. 6,200 Yards), depending on conditions and yardages will vary from round to round.

Practice: Practice rounds are limited and may or may not be available at the discretion of the Golf Shop. Please contact the Golf Shop at 412-793-2375 for information regarding potential availability of a practice round. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. The PGA Professional is Steve Antenucci.

Transportation/Caddies: Automotive transportation is permitted for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Cart fees are included in the entry fee and no refunds are issued to players who choose to walk.

Food: The WPGA provides coffee, juices, and lunch for players only. Caddies and spectators may purchase lunch at their own expense. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.


Lodging: Teams that need lodging will find several hotels in the Harmarville or Monroeville areas in various price ranges, off the PA Turnpike.

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be three hours and forty-five minutes (3:45). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on holes #1,2,3,4,5,6,7,15,16,17 & 18 should return immediately to the Clubhouse. Players on holes #8,9,10,11,12,13 & 14 should go to the Half-Way House.

Spectator Info— No spectator carts will be permitted for the qualifying round without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. Spectators may purchase lunches via cash or reciprocating club charge.
