Format—18 Holes of Stroke Play, Chapman Format

In Chapman or Pinehurst stroke play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing his partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

Allowance for Net Competition

The partner with the lower Course Handicap receives 60 percent of his Course Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap receives 40 percent of his Course Handicap. Add the percentage allowances together before rounding, then round off the total with .5 or more rounded upward.

Provisional Balls

First stroke - Each contestant may hit a provisional ball for his ball which may be lost or out of bounds.

All other strokes-During the alternate stroke portion of each hole, if a side elects to play a provisional ball, it shall be played by the partner of the player whose ball may be lost or out of bounds.

Teams sharing a player – How to proceed with second team ball

Except in a Hazard - The player is to place a ball in the nearest lie most similar to the original lie that is not more than one club-length from the original lie, not nearer the hole and not in a hazard.

In a Water Hazard - If the original ball is in a water hazard, the ball must be placed in a water hazard.

In a Bunker - If the original ball is in a bunker, the original lie must be re-created as nearly as possible and ball must be placed in that lie.

Tee Markers - All play for the Gross Competition is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers, which will play at roughly 6,450 yards. There will be an additional set of tees, WHITE WPGA tee markers, available for those teams wishing to compete from a shorter set of tees, which will play at roughly 5,750 yards. Teams that choose to play from a shorter set of tees will only be eligible for the net trophy and net prizes and must report playing the alternate set of tees to the committee prior to returning their scorecard.

Gross/Net - There is a gross and net competition for the championship. Teams placing in both categories will be awarded only one prize of the higher amount of the two. Teams with a player/players void of a verifiable handicap will only be able to compete in the gross division of the championship.
