Notice to Players
2015 WPGA Father & Son Championship

August 6, 2015 - Allegheny Country Club, Sewickley

This notice serves as confirmation for 92nd West Penn Father & Son Championship on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA.

The championship will begin with a shotgun start at 1:30 PM. Lunch will begin at approximately 11:30.

Please note the attached starting time and pairings. Additional information will be distributed prior to the start of the competition.

Format - 18 Holes of Stroke Play, Chapman Format

Chapman or Pinehurst Stroke Play
In Chapman or Pinehurst stroke play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing his partnerís ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

Allowance for Net Competition
The partner with the lower Course Handicap receives 60 percent of his Course Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap receives 40 percent of his Course Handicap. Add the percentage allowances together before rounding, then round off the total with .5 or more rounded upward.

Provisional Balls
First stroke-Each contestant may hit a provisional ball for his ball which may be lost or out of bounds. All other strokes-During the alternate stroke portion of each hole, if a side elects to play a provisional ball, it shall be played by the partner of the player whose ball may be lost or out of bounds.

Tee Markers - All play for the Gross Competition is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers, which will play at roughly 6,500 yards. There will be an additional set of tees, WHITE WPGA tee markers, available for those teams wishing to compete from a shorter set of tees. Teams that choose to play from a shorter set of tees will only be eligible for the net trophy and net prizes and must report playing the alternate set of tees to the committee prior to returning their scorecard.

Gross/Net - There is a gross and net competition for the championship. Teams placing in both categories will be awarded only one prize of the higher amount of the two. Teams with a player/players void of a verifiable handicap will only be able to compete in the gross division of the championship.

Practice - Practice rounds are not available. Players who wish to play a practice round must do so through a member of the club that they may know. Practice range balls are complimentary the day of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies - Golf carts are permitted and are included in your entry fee. Allegheny has caddies available. For those who wish to employ a club caddie, arrangements must be made in advance by contacting the golf shop at 412.749.2705. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose to walk.

Playoff - In the event of a tie for gross champion, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation all players should return immediately to the Clubhouse.


Food - The WPGA provides lunch for players and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

Lodging - Lodging can be found in the Cranberry Township area or the Moon Township area.
