This notice serves as confirmation for the 96th West Penn Junior Championship on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Indiana Country Club in Indiana, PA.
The competition is 36 holes and the field will be 72 players. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tee. The practice facility will open at 7:30 AM the day of the championship.
Winner gains exemption to the West Penn Amateur Championship for the next two years.
Winner is awarded 5 AJGA Performance Stars.
Top-5 earn an invitation to C.R. Miller Memorial Junior Match Play Invitational.
Top-5 are awarded 1 AJGA Performance Star.
Format: 36-Holes of Stroke Play
Tee Markers: All play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. The course will play roughly 6,500 yards depending on conditions and yardages will vary from round to round.
Note to Parents & Guardians: A parent, stepparent, or guardian may not serve as a caddie. Spectator carts are not permitted for use during the championship. Breakfast & lunch is provided for the players and their caddies only. Parents and/or spectators who wish to eat lunch with players should inform a staff member of Indiana Country Club and be prepared to pay for charges via cash, check or chit charge to home club.
Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.
Practice: Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 724.465.5222, the Golf Professional is Daniel Braun. Practice rounds for competitors will be at a cost of $50 including a cart. Non-competitor cost for a practice round will be $75. Practice rounds can be scheduled at the following times; Monday - After 12:00 PM, Tuesday - After 2:00 PM, Wednesday to Friday - Before 11:00 AM or After 2:00 PM, Weekends - After 2:00 based on availability. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player, must be pre-arranged and are at the discretion of the golf shop.
Transportation/Caddies: Players and caddies are required to walk for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties. A parent, stepparent, or guardian may not serve as a caddie. Golf bag push carts are permitted for the championship.
Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on holes #1,2,3,4,5,9,10 & 18 should return immediately to the Clubhouse. Players on holes #11,12,13,14,15,16 & 17 should go to the Maintenance Building.
Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Food: The WPGA provides whole fruits, juices & coffee in the morning and lunch for players and caddies only. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player. Lunch will be available by cash or credit card for those accompanying the players and caddies.
Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Indiana area. A rate of $94 per night for competitors has been negotiated at the Park Inn by Radisson Indiana. Booking at the Radisson can be done by phone at 724-463-3579. Please mention “WPGA Junior Championship” in order to receive the $94 rate.
