The competition is 54 holes of stroke play with a field of 78 players determined via qualifying rounds and exemptions.
Monday, July 18 – Rounds One AM (18 Holes of Stroke Play)
Tuesday, July 19 – Rounds Two AM (18 Holes of Stroke Play; Cut to top 32 scores & ties after 36 holes)
Wednesday, July 20 – Round Three AM (18 Holes of Stroke Play)
Format - 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to the top 32 scores and ties after 36 holes. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee as soon as practicable. Merchandise prizes will be awarded to amateurs finishing in the top 25 and the championship purse will be distributed to all professionals making the cut at the Championship.
Tee Markers - All play is from the WPGA tee markers. The course will play roughly 6,600 yards depending on conditions and yardages will vary from round to round.
Practice - Practice rounds for competitors only are available July 13-17 after 2:00 PM by contacting the golf shop at 412-793-2375. Practice rounds will not be available after 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 17. Arrangements must be made in advance, are based on availability, are at the discretion of the golf shop and are at a rate of $75. The practice range will open at 6:15 AM the morning of the competition. All practice round fees are the responsibility of the player.
Transportation/Caddies - Walking is required for all rounds of the championship proper. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties. Longue Vue does offer a limited number of caddies and arrangements must be made in advance. If you wish to employ a club caddie, please contact Michael Cooney at 412-793-2375. Caddie expenses are the responsibility of the player. Push trolleys are not permitted for the competition.
Lodging - A lodging rate of $109 per night has been arranged for competitors at the Doubletree by Hilton—Monroeville Convention Center. The Doubletree is located roughly 15 minutes from the club. The Doubletree telephone number is 412-373-7300 and the website can be found here. Please reference “WPGA West Penn Open” when making arrangements at the Doubletree. Additional lodging of various prices can be found in the Downtown Pittsburgh, Harmarville and Monroeville areas.
Food & Beverage - Whole fruits and bottled water will be available prior to a player’s round. Lunch will be provided for players following the second and third rounds only. Lunch is not provided following round one. Bottled water will be supplied on course during all rounds for both players and caddies. All other food & beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). he Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
Footwear - METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Spectator Info - No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition. Spectators may purchase lunch at their own expense.
