Notice to Competitors
2017 West Penn Open Qualifying Round

Tuesday, July 11, 2017 - Treesdale Golf & Country Club

The competition is 18 holes and the field of sixty-nine (69) players is playing for twenty-three (23) spots and two (2) alternates in the Open Championship at Butler Country Club. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

Groupings - Tee & Time

Format: 18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for qualifying spots or alternates, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

Tee Markers: All play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. The competition will be conducted on the Grove & Lakes course. The course will play roughly 6,800 yards depending on conditions.

Practice rounds are available and must be scheduled in advance by contacting the Golf Shop at 724-625-4653. The Golf Professional is James Brahm. Cost for a practice round is $50. Practice rounds are available as follows:
Tuesday, July 4th - 1:00pm - 1:54pm & After 4:30pm
Wednesday, July 5th - 1:00pm - 2:30pm & After 5:03pm
Thursday, July 6th - 1:00pm - 2:30pm & After 5:03pm
Friday, July 7th - After 5:03pm
Saturday, July 8th - 1:00pm - 1:54pm & After 4:30pm
Sunday, July 9th - 1:00pm - 1:54pm & After 4:30pm
Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice range balls are complimentary the day of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies: Golf carts are permitted for the qualifying round and included in the entry fee. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round.

Food: The WPGA provides water on the course and lunch prior to the round to begin at roughly 11:15 AM. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.


Lodging: Lodging can be found in the Cranberry Township area.

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). he Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players should seek the nearest shelter on course or return to the clubhouse immediately until the committee can evacuate the course. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability. Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense.
