The competition is 18 holes and the field of seventy-six (76) players is playing for twenty-five (25) spots and two (2) alternates in the Open Championship at Butler Country Club. Groupings and tee times can be found at wpga.org. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.
Format: 18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for qualifying spots or alternates, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.
Tee Markers: All play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. The course will play roughly 6,600 yards depending on conditions.
Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 724-727-3442. Practice rounds will be at a cost of $35 on weekdays and $45 on weekends after 2:00. Practice rounds should be made in advance and all practice rounds are at the discretion of the golf shop. The golf professional is Brian Dunaway. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.
Transportation/Caddies: Golf carts are permitted for the qualifying round and included in the entry fee. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round.
Food: The WPGA provides water on the course and lunch following the round. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Monroeville or Harmarville areas off the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). he Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on holes #1,2,3,4,9,10,11 & 18 should return immediately to the clubhouse. Players on holes #5,6,7 & 16 should go to the shelter between near hole #8 tee. Players on holes #8,12,13,14,15 & 17 should proceed to the maintenance building. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note or by the club’s electronic system. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.
Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability. Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense.
