2015 West Penn Open Championship


July 20-22, 2015 - Westmoreland Country Club, Export



Please see information related to the 111th West Penn Open Championship to be held at Westmoreland Country Club in Export, PA on July 20-22, 2015.

The competition is 54 holes, 18 holes each day with a field of 78 players. The starting tees will be holes 1 & 10 and play is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM for Round 1 on Monday, July 20, and for Round 2 on Tuesday, July 21. Play for Round 3 on Wednesday, July 22 is scheduled to begin at 7:45 AM. Tee times will be available at wpga.org once all qualifying rounds are complete and the field is finalized. The stroke play cut will be the top thirty-two (32) scores and ties after thirty-six (36) holes. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

Format - 54 Holes of Stroke Play with a cut made after 36 holes. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

Tee Markers - All play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. The course will play roughly 6,700 yards depending on conditions and yardages will vary from round to round.

Practice - Please contact the Golf Shop at 724-327-2345 for information regarding a practice round. The PGA Professional is Robert Gordon. Practice rounds must be made in advance and times are at the discretion of the club. Westmoreland has graciously offered practice rounds at no cost to walk and for those wishing to take a cart, for a cart fee only. Walking practice rounds will only be permitted Tuesday through Friday either before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM. Practice range balls are complimentary the day of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies - Players are required to walk for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies or carry their own bag if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties. Westmoreland does have a limited number of caddies available. If you wish to employ a club caddie, arrangements must be made in advance by contacting the caddie master. A limited number of push trolleys are available at the club. Players who wish to rent a push trolley must also do so in advance by contacting the caddie master. Players are permitted to bring or use their own push trolleys.

Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Evacuation Plan - A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated. In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on holes #1,9,10,11(tee/fairway),16,17 & 18 should return immediately to the Clubhouse. Players on holes #11(green),12,13 & 14(tee) should go to the grounded tunnel between holes #15 & 16. Players on holes #2(tee),3(green),4,5,6(tee) & 8 should proceed to the Maintenance Building behind hole #4 green. Players on holes # 2(fairway/green),3(tee/fairway),6(fairway/green) & 7 should proceed to the bathroom shelter near #6 tee.

Footwear - METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

Lodging - Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Monroeville, Irwin and Greensburg areas.

Food - The WPGA provides coffee, juices and whole fruits for the players on each day of the competition. Lunch will be provided for players and their caddies on Tuesday only. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

Spectator Info - No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition. Spectators may purchase lunches via cash or reciprocating club charge.

Please inform us as soon as possible if you must withdraw by contacting the Association office at 412-826-2180 or emailing Matt Rusinko. The entry fee includes practice range fee, locker fee, continental breakfast each day, lunch on Tuesday, trophies to the winner, runner-up and low amateur. Merchandise prizes will be awarded to amateurs finishing in the top 25 and a purse exceeding $30,000 for professionals making the cut at the Championship.
