Notice to Players - 2015 WPGA Spring Stroke Play Championship

May 18, 2015 - Sunnehanna Country Club, Johnstown

The WPGA Spring Stroke Play Championship on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, PA.

The competition will be played in two 17 hole stipulated rounds. Hole #7 will be closed for play. The field will be 72 players. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

Format - Two Rounds of Stroke Play

Tee Markers - All play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers; approximate yardage for the competition will be 6,600 depending on course conditions. Teeing grounds will vary for each round.

Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25)

Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole sudden death playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee. The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Practice - Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at Sunnehanna at 814.255.3106

Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player, must be pre-arranged, are available after 2:00PM at the discretion of Sunnehanna and are at a cost of $75 with or without a golf cart. Sunnehanna only accepts cash or club reciprocating club charge for payment of practice rounds. The PGA Head Golf Professional is Carl Seelman.

Transportation/Caddies - Golf carts are permitted and are included in the entry fee. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose to walk. Sunnehanna has caddies. If you wish to employ a club caddie you must arrange this in advance of the competition with the Golf Shop. Caddie fees are the responsibility of the player.

Lodging - A room block has been reserved with Holiday Inn Johnstown. The Holiday Inn has offered a rate per night of $129.99 for participants and officials who wish to stay at the hotel. The room block will expire on May 14. Reservations can be made online or by calling 814-535-7777, please reference "WPGA" when making arrangements.

Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on holes #1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,16,17 & 18 should return immediately to the Clubhouse. Players on holes #10 & 11 should go to the Half Way House. Players on holes #12,13,14 & 15 should proceed to the Maintenance Building to the right of Hole #12.


Food - The WPGA provides coffee and juice in the morning and lunch between rounds for the players. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

There is a waiting list for this Championship; if you have been accepted into the starting field please let us know as soon as possible if you must withdraw by contacting the Association office at 412-826-2180 or by emailing Championship Director, Matt Rusinko.

The entry fee includes green fee, cart, practice fee, locker fee, lunch, trophies to the winner and merchandise prizes to the top ten (10) scores and ties for the Championship as well as the low two (2) seniors in field. A trophy will be awarded to the low junior and low senior in the field. The winner of the Championship receives an exemption to the 2015 West Penn Amateur & Open Championships. The top 3 scores and ties will gain exemption to the 2015 West Penn Amateur.
