This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Open Local Qualifying Round on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, PA.
The qualifier is 18 holes and the field is 78 players. The field will be playing for four (4) spots and two (2) alternates. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tee.
Format - 18 Holes of Stroke Play
Tee Markers - All play is from the BLACK tee markers
Competition Course - The qualifying round will be conducted on Blue Course hole #1 (will serve as hole #1 for scoring and starting) and Gold Course holes #2 through #9 (front nine) Red Course (Red #1 will serve as the #10 hole for starting and scoring).
Distance Measuring Devices are not permitted for the qualifying round. The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round. Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.
Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25)
Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole sudden death playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.
Practice - Please contact the Golf Shop at 724-820-1273 for information regarding a practice round. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. The Golf Professional is Mike Papson. Practice rounds should be made in advance. Practice range balls are complimentary the day of the competition.
Transportation/Caddies - Walking is required. The club does not offer caddies. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round.
Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, players on the Red Course and Gold holes #8 & 9 and Blue hole #1 should return immediately to the Clubhouse. Players on holes Gold #2,3,4,5,6 & 7 should go to the half way house near Gold #6 tee.
Footwear - METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Food - The WPGA provides a light continental breakfast for the players. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
Lodging - Accommodations of various price ranges can be found in the Southpointe/Canonsburg or Meadowlands areas.
