This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Senior Amateur Sectional Qualifying Round on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Edgewood Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.
The qualifier is 18 holes and the field is 22 players. The starting tee will be hole #1. The field is playing for one (1) spot and two (2) alternates.
Additional information will be distributed on the starting tee. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.
Format - 18 Holes of Stroke Play
Tee Markers - Play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. Qualifying yardage will be approximately 6,500 yards or the equivalent of roughly the Edgewood Blue course.
Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.
The "One Ball Rule" is in effect for the qualifying round.
Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.
Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be three hours and fifty minutes (3:50). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
Practice - Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 412-823-7300. Practice rounds for competitors must be arranged in advance, will be at a cost of $50, and fees are the responsibility of the player. Available dates for practice rounds are as follows, August 18 & 20 after 1:00 PM; August 22 after 2:00 PM; August 25 after 3:00 PM. The Director of Golf is Pete Micklewright. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.
Transportation/Caddies - Carts are permitted for the qualifying round and are at the expense of the player. Players wishing to take a cart should take care of associated fees in the golf shop upon arrival. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round.
Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players should return immediately to the Clubhouse. In the event of players walking, shelters car be found at the halfway house near holes #2 & #12; hole #8 tee; hole #6 green & hole #15 green. Players should proceed to those shelters until a Committee member can safely evacuate them. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.
Footwear - METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Lodging - Lodging in various price ranges can be found in the Monroeville area.
Food - The WPGA provides a light continental breakfast for the players and on course water. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
