Notice to Players - 2016 U.S. Amatuer Sectional Qualifying

Monday, July 25, 2016 - Williams Golf & Country Club, Weirton, WV

This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Williams Golf & Country Club in Weirton, WV. The qualifying round is 36 holes and the field is 70 players. The number of spots the field is playing for is two (2) and two (2) alternates. The starting tees will be holes #1 and #10. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees. The locker room and practice facility will open at 7:30 AM the day of the qualifying round.

Format - 36 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.

Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.
The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.
Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.

Tee Markers - All play is from the WPGA tee markers. The course will play roughly 6,600 yards depending on conditions.

Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). The WPGA Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Practice - Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 304-748-2340. Practice rounds are at the discretion of the golf shop on weekdays and after 2:00 PM on weekends. The cost of practice round will be $23.50. Walking a practice round will not be permitted prior to 4:30 PM or as permitted by the golf shop. Practice rounds should be made in advance and all practice rounds are at the discretion of the golf shop. The golf professional is Paul DiLorenzo. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies - Walking is required. The club does not offer caddies. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round. Players and caddies are permitted to use push trolleys for the qualifying round.

Food - The WPGA provides coffee, juices and fruits prior to the round and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player. An optional lunch, at the player’s expense will be available between rounds one and two. The club accepts credit card and cash.


Lodging - Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Weirton, WV area.

Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players should seek the nearest shelter on course, return to the clubhouse or proceed to the maintenance building immediately, until the committee can evacuate the course. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note or by the club’s electronic system. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

Spectator Info - No spectator carts will be permitted for the qualifying round.
