Notice to Players - 2016 U.S. Mid-Amatuer Sectional Qualifying

Tuesday, August 2, 2016 - Pittsburgh Field Club, Pittsburgh, PA

This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Mid-Amateur Sectional Qualifying on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Pittsburgh, PA. The qualifying round is 18 holes and the field is 64 players. The number of spots the field is playing for is four (4) and two (2) alternates. The starting tee will be hole #1. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

Format - 18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.

Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.
The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.
Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.

Tee Markers - All play is from the USGA tee markers. The course will play at roughly 6,700 yards depending on conditions.

Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). The WPGA Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Practice - Please note the following regarding the availability of practice rounds.

Practice rounds are available as follows:

For contestants residing inside of 75 miles of the Pittsburgh Field Club - Tuesday, July 26 after 4:00 PM or Thursday, July 28 after 4:00 PM

For contestants residing outside of 75 miles of the Pittsburgh Field Club - Monday, August 1 after 2:00 PM (walking only)

Practice rounds are for competitors only and must be scheduled in advance by contacting the golf shop at 412-963-7700. All practice rounds, times and groupings are at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice rounds will be complimentary to walk or at the prevailing cart fee for those who wish to take a cart. The PGA Head Golf Professional is David Martin. Practice range will open at 7:00 AM and balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies - Walking is required. The club does offer caddies. Players interested in securing a club caddie must do so in advance by contacting Matt Sullivan at 412-963-2899. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round. The club does have a limited number of push trolleys available for rent, trolleys are permitted so long as they are trolleys that are the property of the club. Players and/or caddies may not bring their own push trolley to the qualifying round. Contestants interested in securing a club push trolley must do so in advance by contacting Matt Sullivan.

Food - The WPGA provides coffee, juices and whole fruits prior to the round and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.


Lodging - Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the downtown Pittsburgh or Harmarville areas.

Spectator Info - No spectator carts will be permitted for the qualifying round.
