Notice to Players - 2016 U.S. Senior Open Sectional Qualifying

July 6, 2016 - Westmoreland Country Club, Export, PA

This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Senior Open Sectional Qualifying on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Westmoreland Country Club in Export, PA. The qualifying round is 18 holes and the field is 57 players. The number of spots the field is playing for will be communicated on the starting tee. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees. The locker room and practice facility will open at 7:00 AM the day of the qualifying round.

Format - 18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole-by-hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.

Distance Measuring Devices are not permitted for the qualifying round.

The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.

Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.

Tee Markers - All play is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers. The course will play par 71 at roughly 6,700 yards depending on conditions.

Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty minutes (4:20). The WPGA Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE, a checkpoint system will be in place for the qualifying round.

Practice - Practice rounds must be pre-arranged and can be scheduled by contacting the golf shop at 724-327-2345. The Golf Professional is Robert Gordon. Practice rounds, for competitors are at a rate of $30 to walk or ride and are at the discretion of Westmoreland Country Club. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies - Walking is required. Westmoreland has a limited number of caddies available. Players who wish to employ a club caddie must do so in advance by contacting Scott Cimino at 724-327-2345 (x143). Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round. Players are permitted to use push trolleys for the qualifying round.

Food - The WPGA provides coffee, juices, and whole fruits prior to the round and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.


Lodging - Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Greensburg, Monroeville and Murrysville areas.

Evacuation Plan - In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, player on holes 1, 9, 10 & 18 – Proceed to clubhouse upon suspension. Holes 4, 5, 8, 14, 15 – Proceed to Maintenance Facility. Holes 12, 13, 14 tee – Proceed to the tunnel between hole 15 & 16. Holes 2, 3, 6 green, 7 tee should proceed to the shelter near #6 green. Holes 6 tee/fairway, 5 green, 6 tee, 7 green should proceed to the shelter at #6 tee. Holes 10 green, 11, 16, 17 tee should proceed to the shelter near 10 green.

Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

Spectator Info - No spectator carts will be permitted for the qualifying round.
