Notice to Players - 2016 U.S. Women's Mid-Amatuer Sectional Qualifying

Thursday, August 25, 2016 - Fox Chapel Club, Pittsburgh, PA

This notice serves as confirmation for U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Sectional Qualifying on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, PA. The qualifying round is 18 holes and the field is 13 players. The number of spots the field is playing for is four (4) and two (2) alternates. The starting tee will be hole #1. Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.

Format - 18 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee for qualifying spots as well as alternates.

Distance Measuring Devices are permitted for the qualifying round.
The “One Ball Rule” is in effect for the qualifying round.
Grooves conforming to USGA policy are required for the qualifying round.

Tee Markers - All play is from the USGA tee markers. The course will play at roughly 5,950 yards depending on conditions.

Pace of Play - The maximum allowable time for the stipulated round will be three hours and forty-five minutes (3:45) for twosomes and four hours and ten minutes (4:10) for threesomes. The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

Practice - Practice rounds are for competitors only and must be scheduled in advance by contacting the golf shop at 412-963-7885. All practice rounds, times and groupings are at the discretion of the golf shop. Weekend availability will be limited. One practice round will be complimentary to walk or at the prevailing cart fee or caddie fee for those who wish to take a cart or caddie. Additional practice rounds will be at the unaccompanied guest rate. The PGA Head Golf Professional is Alexander Childs. Practice range balls are complimentary the morning of the competition.

Transportation/Caddies - Walking is required. The club does offer caddies. Players interested in securing a club caddie must do so in advance by contacting Harry Jenkins or Mark Nigro at 412-963-7885. Players may bring their own caddies. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties during the qualifying round. Push trolleys are not permitted for the qualifying round.

Food - The WPGA provides a light continental breakfast prior to the round and water on the course. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.


Lodging - Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the downtown Pittsburgh area.

Spectator Info - No spectator carts will be permitted for the qualifying round.
