"Current Handicaps For Amusement Only"
The WPGA started is Handicap Chair Certification Program in 2000 to provide education on the USGA Handicap System™ to club staff and committee members would be better prepared to administer the USGA Handicap System at each of our Member Clubs. In 2002, the USGA adopted a requirement that all clubs wishing to utilize the USGA Handicap System and issue a USGA Handicap Index® to each of its members must attend an educational program conducted by the USGA or an approved golf association. Each individual must also pass a quiz demonstrating proficiency in the USGA Handicap System and its procedures. Every golf club must complete this requirement during each cycle of the USGA Handicap System. The present term is from January 1, 2102 - December 31, 2015.
The WPGA is an authorized golf association licensed by the USGA to administer the USGA Handicap System in our jurisdiction, and this requirement can be met in one of three ways; attend a USGA Handicap Seminar conducted by the USGA, attend a seminar conducted by the WPGA, or complete the USGA Online Handicap Seminar.
In conjunction with the Club Licensing Program, all clubs must have met these requirements by December 31, 2015 in order to issue a USGA Handicap Index to each member. All WPGA Member Clubs have fulfilled the requirements and are presently licensed to use the USGA Handicap System.
