Eligibility:  Juniors who reside in “Western Pennsylvania District” and who have

not reached their eighteenth birthday as of the start of the event.

There are no automatic selections to represent the WPGA in the Williamson Cup Team Matches. Four individuals are chosen each year.

The Association’s main goal is to identify the four best junior players in Western Pennsylvania, and this is the reason for no automatic selections. In the past, all four juniors that have been invited have competed in the C.R. Miller. Since the Williamson Cup is a thirty-six hole event played on one day, the Association has looked heavily on playing records from thirty-six hole events and from invitations to the C.R. Miller (please refer to C.R. Miller Selection Criteria). The events that are looked at heavily include:

WPGA Junior Championship
USGA Junior Amateur (Sectional Qualifying & Championship)
Pennsylvania Junior Amateur
Westfield Junior (Sectional Qualifying & National Tournament)

The 2008 Williamson Cup will be conducted by the Pennsylvania Golf Association at The Country Club of Scranton in Scranton, PA on August 10 and 11.  A memo to all prospective juniors will be sent along with the player’s invitation to the C.R. Miller Memorial Match Play Invitational, and the team will be finalized the day following the conclusion of the C.R. Miller.  The player, when accepting his invitation to the C.R. Miller, should identify if he is eligible to compete in the Williamson Cup if chosen.
