History

The life of Hill Crest Country Club began as a dream in 1923 when a group of gentlemen met to discuss the purchase of 160 acres of farmland for an 18-hole golf course.  By 1924, 150 memberships had been sold and Hill Crest's club charter was registered.
In September 1924, a 9-hole golf course was completed while construction of the clubhouse that would command an imposing view of the course and valley below continued.  The first social event at Hill Crest was a formal party during Thanksgiving week of 1925.

The challenges to Hill Crest seemed overwhelming when, on two occasions in the late thirties, the Board voted down the motion to sell acreage set aside for the second nine holes for payment of debt and taxes.  The difficult decision the Board made at that time enabled Hill Crest to begin planning for an 18-hole course in 1950.

The contract to expand the golf course was finally let in July 1950, but in May 1951, Hill Crest faced the greatest test when the clubhouse burned to the ground.  Because of the total cooperation of the membership, construction continued on the second nine holes and a bond issue was accepted by the members to rebuild the clubhouse.  1952 was a tremendous year for Hill Crest.  In June, the 18-hole golf course was dedicated and in November, a formal dinner-dance was held to celebrate the completion of the new clubhouse.

In 1957, the membership voted to build an Olympic-size swimming pool.  The following year Hill Crest dedicated the finest pool and bathhouse complex in the area.  Because of the pool, more members and guests began utilizing the course and related facilities.
When the tennis courts were built, Hill Crest members and their guests found that they had a complex that could meet most of their recreational needs.  The courts overlook the valley, which makes for a most splendid view.

Finally, in June of 1990, Hill Crest dedicated its newly remodeled clubhouse.  The surrounding area soon found that the dining and banquet facilities the club offered satisfied parties, big and small.
Hill Crest has journeyed far from the day that the first members purchased the land for $35,000.  Today, the our multi-million dollar complex is known as a club that will accept any challenge because its members know that dreams do come true.

Club House

Hill Crest Country Club has always enjoyed a tradition of excellence as a golf and country club.  This tradition is well complimented by the clubhouse services and social activities.  Your dining experiences can range from an elegant evening, enjoying expertly prepared cuisine in our formal Oak Room or casual dining in our Mixed Grille.  Other activities include monthly parties, Sunday brunches, gourmet dinners and other special social activities that occur from time to time.

Hill Crest's dining facility offers a multitude of arrangements from two private size rooms for high level meetings for a few, to the use of the entire club for 300 or more.  The management and staff will do everything possible to make your "special" party most enjoyable.  Whatever the dining experience the view from the club is beautiful, especially at sunset.

Hill Crest is a club that emphasizes family participation.  The children are encouraged to join any or all of the junior programs to make their participation in the club as rewarding as possible.

Grounds and Greens

Hill Crest Country Club's 18-hole golf course has seen a continuing improvement program over the years.  The maintenance of the narrow watered fairways, judicious tree planting/replacement and bunker construction are continually monitored by an extremely dedicated grounds superintendent, assistant superintendent and crew.  The greens in particular are known to offer a challenge to any caliber of player.

Golf

Hill Crest Country Club's 18-hole golf course has seen a continuing improvement program over the years.  The challenge of the narrow watered fairways, judicious tree replacement, bunker construction and small greens makes a round of golf a most interesting experience for members and guests alike.

The golf programs at Hill Crest are varied, enjoyable, and designed for encompassing all members of the family.  Activities range from events for the men as well as ladies and junior golfers.  One of the increasingly popular golf activities has been the mixed couples program.  The weekly Friday Night mixed couples event has always had good attendance with enthusiastic participants enjoying a socially good time.
To improve one's game is every golfer's desire.  Hill Crest's PGA golf professional staff has provided the club with a fine source for golf instruction, which is available on a private individual basis or a group clinic program.  Our junior program has included instruction on golf swing fundamentals as well as the availability of the golf course for junior golfers to practice their golf lessons.

The ingredients for a successful golf program are here at Hill Crest.  We have a golf shop staffed by a PGA professional who will provide our membership with the best of service.  The golf shop is stocked with merchandise that offers our membership the best of quality for their golf equipment and golf attire needs.  The professional staff is also trained to provide quality instruction for the enrichment of our members' game.  To culminate all of these ingredients makes Hill Crest a golf course that is enjoyed by everyone.
