Roy Vucinich runner-up in PGA Match Play

After advancing to the finals in the PGA of America match play championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on Monday, February 7, Roy Vucinich, Moon Township, lost to Bob Sowards, Columbus, Ohio, 4 & 3.  Sowards, 36, who also won the the PGA Stroke Play two weeks earlier, was four under par at the turn with a five up lead.

Vucinich, 57, formerly the head pro at Allegheny Country Club, has a long history as one of the area's finest players, including four West Penn Open victories, '77, '78, '85, & '93.  He also enjoyed a top notch season in 2004, finishing among the top players on the Tri-State PGA's points and money lists.
