Starting next Fall, one WPGA Scholarship
will be worth more than $10,000 per year in room and tuition. The
WPGA Scholarship Fund will pay $3000 toward an Evans Scholarship
with
Western Golf
Association, the game's largest scholarship organization, paying
the balance. Candidates must be caddies who will most likely attend
Penn State or perhaps another university where Evans has chapters.
Candidates must apply to both organizations who will then jointly
determine the recipient.
The arrangement was finalized at the WPGA
Executive Committee's Summer Meeting on August 4 in discussions with
Brian Shell, a staff member of Western Golf Association. The WPGA
Scholarship Fund typically has ten students in the program in any
given school year. One student will be in the combined
organizations program at any time.
Applications for the WPGA scholarship are available and must be
returned by December 15. Application information for the Evans
Scholarship can be found at the
Western Golf Association.
