Association mourns death of Jim Simons

Jim Simons, one of the best golfers this area has
ever produced, was found dead in his home near Jacksonville,
Florida, on December 8, the Association learned from the USGA on
December 13. His funeral took place on December 12.
Simons, who learned to play at Butler Country
Club, was an outstanding junior and collegiate player, who led the
1971 US Open at Merion after three rounds before finishing fifth. He
played the PGA Tour, 1972-86.
