Margaret Pentrack, Pittsburgh, and 2006 West Penn Amateur champion
William Miller, Venetia, both qualified for match play in the USGA Girls
Junior and Junior Amateur Championships. Both players shot
149--Pentrack with 73-76 and Miller with 76-73. This is the first time
in memory that both a girl and boy from Western Pennsylvania qualified for
the USGA juniors match play in the same year.
Pentrack's first round opponent is Canada's Jennifer Kirby, while Miller
faces Peter Uehlein, son of the Acushnet (Titleist) CEO, Peter. The Girls Junior is being
played at Carmel CC, Charlotte, NC, while the Junior Amateur is at
Rancho Santa Fe GC, California.
