Arnold Cutrell Named Player of the Year
October 5, 2006
Jeff Rivard, Executive Director (contact)

Greensburg's Arnold Cutrell was tied with Sean Knapp as the 2004 Player
of the Year.  This year, it was no doubt as the Pennsylvania Match Play
champion totaled 703 points, nearly 300 ahead of runner-up David Brown,
Upper St. Clair.

In addition to the state title, Cutrell was runner-up in both the West
Penn Open and Amateur, and qualified for match play in the USGA
Mid-Amateur, among his strong showings throughout the year.  Brown won
the WPGA Tournament of Champions.  Rounding out the top ten were

Nathan Smith, Pittsburgh
Sean Knapp, Oakmont
Frank Fairman, Punxsutawney
Arite Fink, Jr., Altoona
Robert Rohanna, Waynesburg
Rich Mottura, Vandergrift
Mike Van Sickle, Gibsonia
Paul Schlachter, Bridgeville

Honorable Mention
Doug Stadler, Wexford
Harvin Groft, State College
Scott Phillis, Meadville

It was the first appearance on the Honor Roll for Rohanna and Van Sickle,
the top two collegiate players in the area.  Rohanna plays for Penn
State; Van Sickle, for Marquette.
