Jeff Rivard, Executive Director (contact)
At its Fall Meeting, the Association's
Championship Committee approved for 2007 the USGA Local Rule that
permits the use of distance measuring devices in all competitions except
for juniors. A decision on junior golf will be made at a later date.
Devices that measure distance only were approved,
but the use of devices that measure other elements such as wind or
gradient will not be permitted under penalty of disqualification.
Thus, for 2007 this USGA Local Rule will be in
effect for Tri-State PGA, Pennsylvania GA, and WPGA comptetitions.
