Three-time WPGA Senior Player of the Year, Paul Schlachter, Nevillewood has begun the season impressively with a win, a second and a third in Florida.  Schlacter won the Gateway Invitational at Gateway G&CC, January 7-9, Fort Meyers with scores of 72-67-74 -- 213.  He was tied for second with 6 others at the Adams Senior Championship, January 15-17 at Lake Jovita CC, Dade City, with 72-75-71--217, seven stroke behind the 2006 USGA Senior Amateur champion, Mike Bell, Indianapolis.  Bell defeated Schlachter in the third round of that championship.  He also finished third at the Bobcat Trail Invitational, January 11-13, with scores of 73-72-71 -- 216 at Bobcat Trail GC, North Port.

Sewickley's Carol Semple Thompson, reached the semi-finals in the Senior Division in the Jones/Doherty at Coral Ridge CC in Fort Lauderdale.  She defeated Natalie Easterly, daughter of former USGA President and Executive Director, Harry Easterly, in the second round, 2 & 1.  Carol then lost in the semis to longtime friend, Connie Shorb, York, PA, 2 & 1.  Shorb went on to win the competition.
