Handicap requirements for USGA Championships
February 21, 2007

In October, the USGA announced a change to their handicap verification procedures for entry in their championships in 2007.  If you plan on entering a USGA championship, you must have a valid handicap from an authorized golf club.

The following statement will appear on all USGA entry forms:

"A USGA Handicaps Index® must be issued from a "golf club" (as defined in the USGA Handicap System manual) which is licensed to use the USGA Handicap System. ™"

All WPGA member clubs are licensed to use the USGA Handicap System, but if your handicap is from a non-WPGA club, you should check the list of licensed clubs on the USGA website.

For more information read the letter from the chairman of the USGA Championship Committee, Jim Hyler.
