Open Sectional on June 4 next for local qualifiers (5/18/07)

Jon Mills, Indiana, now playing the Nationwide Tour, advanced through the USGA Open Local Qualifier at Indiana CC on May 9 with 67.  He is slated to compete on June 4 near Chicago at Riverside CC.  The other five qualifiers at Indiana are all professionals, four from the Hooters Tour and one from the Nationwide Tour. Co-Medalists at Quicksilver on May 17, William Miller, Venetia, the 2006 West Penn Amateur champion and Erik Bertrand, Pittsburgh, with 71s are headed to Columbus, Ohio, a site where many PGA Tour Players will try to qualify at two famous courses - Scioto CC, home of Jack Nicklaus, and Ohio State University's Scarlet Course where Nicklaus played his collegiate golf.  Bertrand and Miller will be joined by Kevin Shields, Pittsburgh, who shot 73 and advanced via a playoff for the last position.  Oakmont's professional, Bob Ford, exempt from Local Qualifying, will also compete in Columbus.

The third co-medalist at Quicksilver, Brett Carman, Claysville, will play in Purchase, New York, at Old Oaks & Century. (Quicksilver Results)
