A three-way playoff concluded the
87th WPGA Junior Championship held at New Castle Country Club on
June 11. Brandon Pompeani of Aliquippa was crowned champion
after the playoff. Pompeani recorded scores of 75-74--149.
Finishing tied for second were Bo Lustig, Belle Vernon, who
recorded scores of 74-75--149, and Gregor Orlando or Erie, who
posted scores of 76-73--149.

Orlando was eliminated from the
playoff with a bogey on the second playoff hole, and Lustig fell
to Pompeani after making bogey on the third and final playoff
hole. Pompeani parred all three and kept the playoff going by
making a delicate chip on the second playoff hole from behind
the green that rolled down to within inches of the hole.
Fifty-one players completed the
championship. Finishing fourth was Michael Klaric, III, of
Hermitage (75-75--150), followed by Grant Martens of Allison
Park (79-75--154) in fifth and Donny Lewis in sixth
(81-74--155). |
