Rohanna Reaches Quarters at APL

Waynesburg, advanced to the quarterfinals in the USGA Amateur
Public Links Championships, at Catigny GC,
Wheaton,
Illinois,
before losing to Colt Knost, Dallas, 2-up.
Rohanna, a
Penn
State
golfer heading into his senior year, was All Big-Ten in the
’06-’07 season. He was co-recipient of the
Frank Fuhrer, III, Award, given to the area’s outstanding
collegiate golfer, sharing the honor with Mike VanSickle,
Gibsonia, a
Marquette
University
standout. Rohanna also won the award in
2005-06, and has won the WPGA Public Links championship twice in
2004 and 2006.
Rohanna
qualified at the Donegal Highlands Sectional for the APL with
69-66—135, then advanced to match play at Catigny with
73-73—146, drawing the 21st seed in the match play
bracket. He defeated Brent Long, Carthage,
TN, 1-up, Cameron Knight, Tampa, 6 & 5, and Christian Raynor,
Atlanta, 2-up, in his quest for the title. Rohanna’s
showing is the best since 1969 in the APL, when Erie’s Joe
Andron at 294, tied for second at Downing Municipal GC, two
strokes behind the winner John Jackson, during
the APL’s stroke play years—1967-74. |
