Popeck, Brannan advance in USGA
Junior July 25, 2007 Jeff Rivard, Executive Director (contact) Jon Popeck, Washington, and Sean Brannan, Hollidaysburg, qualified for match play on July 24 in the USGA Junior Amateur Championship. The Championship is being played at Boone Valley Golf Club, Augusta, Missouri, near St. Louis. Popeck shot 70-71--141, one under par, and tied for sixth. Popeck also qualified in the 2005 Junior and advanced to the second round. Brannan recorded 76-74--150, tying for 51st, making the cut by one shot. Eight players at 151 played off for one spot. In the first round Popeck's opponent is Will McCurdy, Fort Payne, Alabama (150), while Brannan faces Danny Lee, New Zealand (143). In Sectional Qualifying rounds Popeck qualified in Annapolis, MD, while Brannan advanced at Grove City. Follow these juniors on the USGA web-site http://www.usjunioram.org/
