Locks PGA Tour Card for '08
September 24, 2007
Jeff Rivard, Executive Director (contact)
Jon Mills,
Indiana,
fired 65-68-66-64—263, beating D.A. Points by three strokes, to
win the Nationwide Tour stop at
Boise,
Idaho.
The victory guarantees him a spot on the PGA Tour in
2008, the second time Mills has earned his card. The
Boise
win was Mills’ Nationwide Tour title, the others in 2005 when
Mills gained his PGA Tour slot for the first time.
After losing
his PGA Tour privileges Mills had several strong
Nationwide finishes to get in the
hunt for returning next year. This win
removes all doubt, as Mills is now fifth on the money list.
The top 25 players on the Nationwide Tour receive PGA
Tour cards the following season. Mills also
qualified for this year’s US Open at Oakmont, missing the cut by
one stroke, one of many when winner Angel Cabrera birdied the
ninth hole, his final hole, on Friday. He
advanced through the Open Local at Indiana CC and the Chicago
Sectional.
Mills, a
native of
Ontario,
played college golf at
Kent
State,
as a teammate of Ben Curtis. While at
Kent
State,
he met his wife Megan, whose family resides in
Indiana,
PA. |
