Brandon Pompeani named Junior Player of the Year

By winning a three hole playoff in the WPGA Junior Championship, Brandon Pompeani of Aliquippa started a season that saw him also make the finals of the C.R. Miller Match Play Invitational and finish as runner-up in the Pennsylvania Junior Championship. In addition to his junior achievements, Pompeani also returned a 54-hole score in the WPGA Amateur Championship. Pompeani also defeated his brother, Brock, in the finals of the men's club championship at Beaver Lakes Country Club.

Sean Brannan of Hollidaysburg finished second followed by Michael Klaric, III, Hermitage. Brannan made it to the semi-finals of the USGA Junior Amateur Championship and included other top finishes in national events. Klaric, III, won the C.R. Miller, was an alternate for the USGA Junior and Westfield Junior PGA Championships, and finished fourth in the WPGA Junior.

Finishing fourth was Gregor Orlando, Erie, who was runner-up in the WPGA Junior and also returned a 54-hole score in the WPGA Amateur, followed by Grant Martens, Allison Park, who finished fourth in the WPGA Junior and was a semi-finalist in the C.R. Miller.

All will be honored at the WPGA Player's Dinner, recognizing WPGA Honor Rolls and Champions, to be held at The Club at Nevillewood on Wednesday, October 17, 2007.

John Popeck of Washington will be honored with a special recognition for outstanding achievement in national and international junior events.
