Former WPGA President passes away

Richard J. Boughner, WPGA President, 1993-94, died on Tuesday, October 9, at the age of ninety. 

A member at Youghiogheny CC in McKeesport for decades, Boughner won two club championships and two senior club titles.  He served on the WPGA Executive Committee, 1984-94.      

A native of Akron, Ohio, Boughner graduated from The Ohio State University.  He was a starting guard on the basketball team, and played in the first NCAA Final Four in 1939.  Boughner was in the retail optical business, and owned Dunn-Scott Optical in Pittsburgh.  He was selected as National Optician of the Year—1975. He was also a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, son Jim, a member of the WPGA Executive Committee, and two daughters, Jane and Susan, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
