Club Leadership Workshop draws
record attendance January 21, 2008 Jeff Rivard, Executive Director (contact) With nearly forty Member Clubs and 120 persons on hand, the Association’s Club Leadership Workshop at South Hills Country Club on Saturday, January 19, was the biggest single turnout for a WPGA workshop or seminar in three decades. David Axson, a business consultant from Bath, Ohio, near Akron, informed, updated, and challenged the audience that was a mixture of senior staff and elected club officials from throughout the Association. Clubs attended from as far away as Erie (Kahkwa, Lake Shore & Lake View), and Johnstown/Altoona. Axson, President of Sonax, a business research and advisory firm, presented market and demographic statistics both locally and nationally, provided solutions, and offered suggestions on assessing the conditions at private clubs. The freewheeling three hour session was highlighted by numerous questions from the audience. Those interested in contacting Mr. Axson additionally may do so by contacting the Association.
