Penn State golfer selected as USGA intern

Harvin Groft,
State College, has been selected as the Association’s USGA
intern for 2008. Groft, a senior at Penn State University’s
main campus, is in the starting line-up for the nationally
ranked Nittany Lions golf team. The four-year letter winner
will have played in more than 30 competitions for Penn State by
the end of season.
Groft is
majoring in Human Development & Family Studies and is scheduled
to graduate in December. His golf experience includes
counseling at the Penn State summer golf camps, plus golf shop
employment at Toftrees Resort near State College and Hopedale
Country Club in Massachusetts.
The well
traveled Groft has competed throughout the country in over 100
junior tournaments in twelve states. Last summer he was
runner-up in the Alabama State Match Play Championship. In 2006
Groft played on the WPGA team in the annual matches with the
Northern Ohio Golf Association.
