Penn State golfer selected as USGA intern
March 24, 2008
Jeff Rivard, Executive Director (contact)

Harvin Groft, State College, has been selected as the Association’s USGA intern for 2008.  Groft, a senior at Penn State University’s main campus, is in the starting line-up for the nationally ranked Nittany Lions golf team.  The four-year letter winner will have played in more than 30 competitions for Penn State by the end of season.

Groft is majoring in Human Development & Family Studies and is scheduled to graduate in December.  His golf experience includes counseling at the Penn State summer golf camps, plus golf shop employment at Toftrees Resort near State College and Hopedale Country Club in Massachusetts.

The well traveled Groft has competed throughout the country in over 100 junior tournaments in twelve states.  Last summer he was runner-up in the Alabama State Match Play Championship.  In 2006 Groft played on the WPGA team in the annual matches with the Northern Ohio Golf Association.
