In 2007 Ron Coleman, the 2007 and 2008 WPGA Public Links champion, also won at home with titles in the Erie District GA’s 2007 Mid-Amateur, Match Play, and Stroke Play Championships.  Coleman then repeated the wins in the EDGA Mid-Am and Match Play earlier this season.

Coleman led after the first round in the EDGA Stroke Play Championship on August 8 with 71 at Lawrence Park, then followed with 74-75 for a total of 220.  However, his streak came to an end as Ellery Tarbell, Dave Hewett, and Gregor Orlando finished at 217, resulting in a hole-by-hole playoff on August 10.

Hewett lost out on the first hole, and Tarbell and Orlando played a second before lightning suspended play.  Orlando was unable to play the rest of the week due to an American Junior Golf Association competition. On Saturday, August 15, when play resumed, Tarbell birdied the first hole of the day with a ten-foot putt to defeat Orlando for the title.
