Next year's West Penn Open, sponsored by PNC Bank, will be played June 22-23 at Westmoreland Country Club in Export.  Used regularly for the Association's major competitions, past Open winners include amateurs John Birmingham, 1972, and John Jones, 1994.  Professionals with Open titles there are John Baker, 1991, and Steve Wheatcroft, 2004.

Sean Knapp won the West Penn Amateur at the club in 2003, the last of his six straight Amateur victories. USGA qualifying rounds held recently at Westmoreland include the 2002 Open Sectional and the 2007 Amateur Sectional.

"We're pleased to return to Westmoreland for the Open, as the course is both playable and challenging," commented WPGA Executive Director Jeff Rivard.  The Open's history includes four champions who have also won US Opens--Sam Parks (1935)--1940 at Shannopin, Lew Worsham (1947)--1956 at Baldoc Hills, Ed Furgol (1954)--1965 at Alcoma, and Arnold Palmer (1960)--1957 at Fox Chapel.
