In the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School, Justin Smith, Franklin, and Bobby MacWhinnie, Pittsburgh, did not advance to the second of three stages in the grueling test last week.

At Florence CC, South Carolina, Smith shot 71-71-70-70—282, missing the cut by four strokes.

At St. Johns G&CC, St. Augustine, Florida, MacWhinnie recorded 71-72-73-81—297, and the cut was 285.
