The following area golfers passed
away this year. Readers are welcome to

Joe Boyle, Penn State University's golf coach, 1957-82. He also
played for
the Nittany Lions, 1946-49, and captained the team all three
years. In 1987
he was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America
Hall of Fame.
Al (Bud) Lefevre, Clarion University's golf coach for the past
nine years.
His top player in 2002-03, Matt Guyton, was the recipient of the
Frank Fuhrer, III, Award as the area's outstanding collegiate
golfer. Lefevre
died on August 8. Age: 65.
Herb Werner, golf writer. He wrote for the Altoona Mirror from
1959 until
his retirement. On June 10. Age: 79.
Don Wolff, Fox Chapel, President of Pennsylvania Golf
Association, 2003. On November 20. Age: 63.
