Peggy Runnette, Fox Chapel GC,
will conclude her service with the USGA
Women's Committee during the Association's Annual Meeting at
Newport Beach,
California, on February 7, 2009. Among her highlights is
certainly the 2002
Curtis Cup she chaired at Fox Chapel, Peggy's home club. The
Curtis Cup is
the international match between the United States and Great
Britain/Ireland,
played every two years. In a close competition, Sewickley's
Carol Semple
Thompson holed a 27 foot birdie-putt on the 18th hole to win her
match and
clinch the Curtis Cup for USA. Runnette's USGA involvement
includes being
the official-in-charge of numerous area qualifying rounds for
both the USGA
Women's Open and Women's Amateur.
