top tens in Northeast Amateur

Nathan Smith, Pittsburgh, tied 7th, and Robert Rohanna,
Waynesburg, tied 9th, led four area players in the Northeast
Amateur at Wannamoisett CC, Rumford, Rhode Island, June
24-27. Smith shot 66-68-68-60--272, and Rohanna was a stroke
behind with 70-64-65-74. Also competing in the strong field
were Sean Knapp, Oakmont, tied for 43rd, and Mike VanSickle,
Wexford, tied for 61st. The winner was Dan Woltman, Beaver
Dam, Wisconsin, with 70-64-67-64--265, a new tournament
record.
Smith has won the West Penn Amateur in both 2007 and 2008,
his 2007 win in a playoff with VanSickle at Sunnehanna.
