Greensburg's Dave Denezza, the 2008 WPGA Senior Amateur
champion, won the Pennsylvania Senior Amateur at Huntsville
GC in Shavertown on August 3-4 with 72-69--141, beating
Saucon Valley's Tom Bartolocci by two strokes.
Other area golfers in the top ten were John Benson,
Punxsutawney, 147, fifth, Don Erickson, III, DuBois, 148,
eighth, plus Paul Schlachter, Bridgeville, and Bob
Allshouse, Greensburg, 149, tied for tenth. For

2009 is another season where area golfers have repeated wins
in Pennsylvania Golf Association championships. Nathan
Smith has won the Jay Sigel Match Play and the Pennsylvania
Amateur. Schlachter won the Jay Sigel Match Play Senior
Amateur, plus Denezza's win in the Senior Amateur.
The Pennsylvania Open will be played at Oakmont, August
10-12.
