When one thinks of the Fuhrer family and their golf games,
it's scratch. Frank, Jr., and his brother Richard, were both
very good players, good enough to win the 1960 Brothers
Championship. Their sons, Frank, III, (Frank, Jr.) and Steve
(Richard), have both won WPGA championships. Frank III, made
the USGA's 1981 Walker Cup team among his many achievements.
At Edgewood in the 2009 Father/Son, Frank, Jr. and Frank III
had a team handicap of 13 in the Chapman format. Their 75
netted to 62, good for a one stroke victory in the Net
Division. At age 83, Frank, Jr., may be the oldest person
ever to win a WPGA competition. Congratulations to this
notable golf family.
