Since the Association began the Frank Fuhrer, III, Award for the area's outstanding collegiate player each season, selections have been obvious with standouts like Justin Smith, Minnesota, Robert Rohanna, Penn State, and Mike Van Sickle, Marquette, each winning the award two years. 2009-10 is different with several players under consideration. Most of the season is completed but with conference championships and NCAA Regionals upcoming, a player could break away from the pack.

Among the possibilities are Brad Cieslinski, Washington & Jefferson; C.G. Mercatoris, IV, Robert Morris; John Popeck, Maryland; Jared Schmaeder, Clarion; and Chad Warmbein, Ohio University.

The announcement will be made in June.
