PGA Tour player, Steve Wheatcroft, a Washington, PA, native, qualified for his first ever US Open, with a 70-69--139 at Rockville, MD. He survived a playoff with fellow Tour players Tag Ridings and Jeff Brehaut to secure the final spot. Wheatcroft has advanced through Local Qualifying on several occasions, but this is first advance to the Championship.

At Columbus, Ohio, Greensburg native Rocco Mediate, the 2008 Open runner-up to Tiger Woods, shot 67-70--137. This score placed him in a six for five spot playoff, and unfortunately, Mediate is the odd man out.

The Open will be played at Pebble Beach Golf Links, June 17-20.
