The Rohanna cousins, Robert and Rachel, headline August for
area golfers. Robert, 24, won the 94th Pennsylvania Open at
Applebrook GC, Malvern, with 67-63-71--201, a three stroke
margin over Blaine Peffley, Lebanon. It was the first
professional victory for the former Penn State standout.
Meanwhile, Rachel, soon to start her sophomore year at Ohio
State, shot
65-73--138, to share medalist honors at the USGA Women's
Amateur, Charlotte, NC. She won her first match, then lost
in the second round.
The duo share another honor, the Frank Fuhrer, III. Award,
given each year to the area's outstanding collegiate golfer.
Robert was honored in 2005-06 and 2006-07, sharing the award
with Mike VanSickle in 06-07. Rachel was similarly honored
for the 2009-10 season, sharing the award with John Popeck,
Maryland.
